Extractors are motorised or hand-spun. Honey taken this way is called extracted honey: honey obtained by centrifuging uncapped combs that hold no brood.
A Nepal field report suggests cleaning anything that touches the honey, such as extractors, knives and containers, with boiled or treated water, to keep disease organisms out of it.
